The Fully Electric Genesis GV60 Arrives in the U.S. Today, Genesis Motor America announced the launch of sales for the much anticipated, all-electric first car, the GV60. The fully electric Genesis GV60 is entering the U.S. market as the first, bold step in the evolution of Genesis toward an all-electric car line. US buyers started taking orders for the GV60 electric SUV Be just a few months ago, at the end of May. Now, Genesis is rolling out their first EV, a pure-sheet GV60 SUV.
Although based on the gasoline-powered Genesis G80, the new car from the luxury brand adopts core principles from the E-GMP electric car platform from its parent Hyundai. Hyundais E-GMP platform hosts Hyundais other electric models, like Hyundais Ioniq 5, which is the brands first EV in the companys new series of EVs.
The Genesiss first EV is the 2023 GV60, which shares its same electric platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kias EV6. The GV60 would also be the first Genesis model built in the U.S., as well as the first Genesis model to be manufactured outside South Korea. Notable is the fact that the electrified GV70 will be the first Genesis model to be produced in the U.S. and outside South Korea.
Genesis will sell the Electrified G80 in California, Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York only at this time, although Genesis plans on offering the Electrified G80 nationally eventually. Buyers get the first opportunity to buy a Korean luxury carmakers electric SUV, the Becoming GV60, as the GV60 arrives at selected dealerships in California, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. In addition to four additional U.S. states, beginning September, Genesis GV60 EV SUVs will now be available at certain retailers in Arizona, Nevada, Utah and Washington.

In an effort by Genesis Motors to ensure consumers are able to drive in luxury while not harming the environment, it continues to launch new electric vehicles in both sedan and SUV styles. Genesis has promised to only introduce EVs starting in 2025, and although that plan includes many all-new models such as the GV60 crossover, Genesis is also going to make a few of its existing gasoline-powered cars electric. Genesis Motor America has promised all new model launches to be completely electric starting in 2025, and its entire lineup will be all-electric by 2030. Hyundais Genesis brand has said all of its new models will be EVs by 2025, and that its entire vehicle lineup will be fully electric five years later. So, the new Genesis GV60 in 2022 is an EV-only car — a first for Genesis — but will probably feature larger batteries and a higher-power motor than its compact cousin.
